I've ridden in the newer 6.0 excursion. Granted it is the 6.0 and not the 7.3, but you might find a better deal on the 6.0. I'd look for one with the EGR delete and headwork done already. My main reason for saying that is that the 7.3's are LOUD. If it is something the your or your wife is going to drive everyday, the 7.3's can be a little unruly on a longer trip. Otherwise they are great motors, as long as they are maintained. The biggest drawbacks to the vehicles really aren't the engine as much as the trans, unit bearing hubs, vacuum lockouts, and the interior which falls apart.
