Sounds like a dirty IAC or a bad TPS.

Pull the codes and no, the CEL does not need to be on for there to be codes to pull.

Doesn't look like Yvon has even signed back in since the day he posted his problem.

OK, first thanks for all the replys.

This in a 1990 EFI 302

Chuzie - The Engine Light dose not come on at all durring all this problems & I have not run the codes do to the fact the light never came on. If the light does not come on, I thought there were not any codes thrown. I will see about getting the codes run.

I have changed all the Plugs, Wires and the Soloniod. I also put another IAC in, but am not sure it is working correctly (was off my parts bronco). I think I am going to have to get another one.

It could be the TPS - but once the bronco starts to run rough after droping to 500 RPMs it is really hard to get it to stay running even if you pump the gas peddle. And even if that works the first time it will die the next time it drops.

I have not checked the Distributoer Control Module yet. Will Try to check it this week.

If the EGR is not working right, will that make any of these symtoms, or will it still run with out that running just right?

Thanks for all the help,

Will see about running the codes, but with not light I am not sure that will help.

Run the codes... The check engine light only applies to certain errors (I think mostly emissions related). I never had my light come on and I still had 5+ codes when I ran it.

Bought a code tester today. Was only $32, so I thought it would be a worth while investment. Will try and run them tonight. Will let everyone know what I come up with. I really don't like have to work on the engine, but I guess it is the only part left really that is still stock and not been worked on. It is a real pain to track down the problems when you don't know a lot about engines let a lone EFI engines. But, it is as good a time as any to start I guess.

ok, so it is a little hard to figure out the codes with the spaces btwn the beeps or flasshes. I know the I got 52 twice (Power Stering Preasure Switch) does not matter. Or at least that will not make it idle weird. Next I got 122 I think - (Throtle Position Sensor - Signal Voltage is Low). I think this may be the problem. Or at least I think I am going to start here. Then I am going to find some where to take it, and have it looked at. See if they can find out what is wrong. Assuming the TPS does not fix the problem.

Hmm

You shouldn't be getting a mix of 2-digit and 3-digit codes. Your year model should just give you the 2-digit codes Confusedcratchhe:

That is what I thought, but if it didn't then my computer is prolly part of the problem, do to the fact I know it gave 52 twice. If it has to be 2 digits on the rest, I am not sure what the rest would be. Do to the fact the spacing of the beeps and pauses were different for each set.
Needless to say, I replaced the TPS and IAC and it seems to run better. Was able to drive around the block with out it dieing. It also idles better. I am not sure this is all of the problems though. There are two vacuum lines that come off the throttle body from little slits by where the flappers are inside the intake ports - but I am not sure where they are supposed to connect to. On mine they go to a single line with a melted end that does not go any where. Also I have another Vacuum line that split in half that goes from one of the canisters (with a red line and a black line coming off) and the black line is broken. I am note sure what the canister does (it is on the left side above the fender when looking at the engine).
