Quick pin release for doors
#1
Anyone ever done this on a full size? I'm wanting to, but didn't know if there was an easy or hard way. The stock pins look like they are pressed in there. I'm thinking the only way to do it is to cut them in half and get some kind of quick release pins from Lowes or something and put them back in.
There's been so many nice days in Charleston, I've wanted to take them off, but then put them back on at night. And now it's October
Any ideas??

Shawn Moody made a set for a k5, should be almost the same style as yours. I will check with him on what he did,Chuck

I have those quick relase pins on my drivers door. Not realy happy with it, way too hard to get the pins back out of an eb. You can put the pins in with out too much work but then the top one is in a position to fall out.
Mine have been in for some time, so much so that I doubt I could get them off very easy. If you could put them in with some kind of bushing I think it might be better. I read how to do mine on Classicbroncos.com and modifide a stock set of hinges.
Not realy a big fan of running doorless, saw way too many injurys when I was an EMT. May actuly spend the money on a set when I swap to my new body but only if there cheaper than a new set.

ive done this. all i did was cut the pins out the stock door hinge. its been a while and i cant remember what size bolt i used, but i had to drill out the holes a little bit to get the new bolt to fit. then i just bolted it back up and aligned the door. i can get pics tommorow.

to remove the pins i just tap on them from the bottom and pull them out. i was going to drill a hole through the end of the bolt and put a pin through it to make sure it wouldnt come out, but thats not a issue. as far as wiring i just spliced some connectors on the speaker wires running through the door so i could easily unplug them.

its kinda a pain to take them off, there heavy, and the pins dont always like to come out easily.

also id check with local law enforcement before riding around with your doors off.

Did the exact same thing as JB. I tapered mine with the ol' angle grinder to make it easier to drop in. Here's some pics...
