Looking for a couple tech how to's

Hey fellas, just joined up, and I'm looking for some tips and advice, and maybe even a couple write ups.


1) I've been contemplating converting my r12 A/C to 134a...are the kits as straight forward as they seem. Seems like it's just a couple fittings, o-rings, a little vac'ing and filling with 134a...Is this right? Tips...pointers????


2) I've also thought about going with OBA with a York setup...anybody here done this before? I'd be interested in seeing a step by step if anyone has one.


3) Planning on doing a 3g alternator upgrade too. I'm gonna use some instructions I got from pa-performance. But I'd like to hear some first hand experiences.


4) Had to get some pine tar off the topper, I pulled up the color. Figured I'd use some Dupli color fusion flat khaki to repaint it. Sound good? Also, the top needs a good recondition. I have a couple chips and small cracks, is this just ypical fiberglass work? Lastly...the 'caulk' in the 'seams' is starting to break up and fall out. What do you guys use to refill these seams?

I upgraded to the 3G on my '72. I think I used the wiring diagram from BC Broncos tech site. It was a pretty simple wiring modification. And cheap too, I picked up 2 almost new reman alternators from the pull-a-part junk yard for $20.
