I've got a 7.3 and love it! You're getting that thing at a good price, if decide against it let me know. I could always use another truck!! I'm running the Hypertech programmer in mine and can set it up for perf., towing, or economy. You know where mine is set. Adds 100 more HP and 164 more ft. lbs. of torque. I get 19-20 mpg all the time and about 13 pulling my small camper. I get about 11 pulling my 14,500 lb. 39' park model. :xyxthumbs:

He said its geared so low with the 5spd you can only go about 70 or so and the 7.3 is running high rpms. is this true? what is normal and high rpm's for the 7.3? gear vendor overdrive?

Its been a few years since I had mine, and dont remember the rpms but w 3:73 gears and 32'' tires it would run 96 mph before the computer said STOP DAMMIT!It would also do it pulling an 853 bobcat.
Stupid hurts when it catches up, and it WILL catch up!

Mine is 7.3 with 3.73's F&R Positraction and will do about 98 at around 3000 rpm. I ran 75/80 from Kings Mountain to Charleston pulling an 8400 lb. camper a few years back. My wife threatened to divorce me so I don't run like that anymore!! LOL :xyxthumbs:

so as long as it stays under 3k on the tach? is there a place i can check my manufacturer codes to know gear ratio and rear end etc? with chevys they got a sticker you can decipher and it tells you the build specs on that particular truck. is it the same with fords?

the owners manual might have something in there about ratios(like if you have an auto trans or manual) probably 3.73 or 4.10 would be my guess

If it hasn't been messed with, ie changed, the tag on the center section should tell you what it has. Typically the F350s run 4:09 gears.
