pray for my dad
#1
recently my dad started hurting in his neck. one morning he woke up to a lot of pain and swelling. he went to his dr. they sent him to a specialist and after 3 different test, mri, and second opinions he was told he has 5 small tumors behind his ear and one large one in his neck. all have cancer.
they operate on the 11th of next month. it will be a 6hr long operation. 3 months healing process. he will also under go radiation and chemo. he was also told that a nerve looks to be in the way and if they have to cut it then it will take up to a year to heal back. my dad had just decided to retire 3 weeks before he found this out. he has worked hard all his life and now that he can kick back and relax this crap comes along. i pray to god to help him through this.

I hate to hear this Mike, my prayers go out to your family.

I know first-hand this stuff sucks, but your Dad is a tough son of a gun......

If you need anything, just give me a shout.

My God Mike, I really don't know what to say. I really hope that your dad pulls through. Do take some consolation in this though; cancer is not the automatic death sentence that it once was. I have several family members that have survived cancer, my uncle even having cancer in his neck oddly enough. After surgery, radiation, chemo and a lot of prayers he has fully recovered from it, and that was five years ago. I won't lie, he has a tough row to hoe in front of him, but with the right support he can definitely pull through this. I know this is tearing you up inside, but do your level best to be positive when you're around him, and try to encourage him to be positive as well, even if you don't really feel that way yourself. Having a good attitude about it is extremely hard, but also extremely important to a good recovery. Here's hoping that everything turns out absolutely as good as is possible. I'll be praying for his health and your strength to help him along. It should go without saying, but if there is anything we can do, just say it.
