Chuzie's monster transformation
Add another to the list...

*** EEC test switch *** COMPLETE ***

I've been wanting to do this for a while now as I am sick and tired of always raising the hood to run EEC self tests. While I was at it, I went ahead and added a function to utilize the fuel pump priming function as well. Those of you who witnessed my failure at KODAK ROCK last year know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, I ran two switches and mounted them in the side of the glove box. One is a master switch which provides a ground to the opposing switch when actuated. The other switch is a two way switch. One side has the EEC function and the other has the fuel so I can select which function I want to receive a ground from the main switch.

I know what you are going to say... "Here he goes again over complicating things"

Kiss my ass!

Thinking about starting on my 4x4x2 box install on Friday.

I have thought about a switch for the EEC test also, and the FP is a great idea for having another switch too.

The glove box is a perfect place for it too - can't accidentally bump it but still easily accessible. This will be on my future mod list once I get up and going.

Not really questioning it, or maybe I am, but is there really a need for the EEC switch?
How many times are you running a diagnostic test?
I've had my Fuel injection in the rig for 3-4 years now and did it when I first fired it up and once this past summer just for the heck of it.

Seems to me the more splices you have in wiring, the more potential for problems due to corrosion, loose connections, etc. plus it makes it harder to diagnose when you have to check multiple connections throughout the truck.

I have tested my EEC more times than I can count. Maybe because I have older sensors and computers. I have no splices in my harness. I just like the convenience of it and it is plugged into the 6 pin testing port so I didn't have to splice. Having the pump prime option is nice too seeing as I have a tendency to run out of gas

Guess I could do without it but I just like to add unnecessary complicated crap to my rig.

On a side note, I did just order 5 relay sockets to try and clean up the relay beehive I have created under my hood.

*** PS cooler *** COMPLETE ***

Snagged a pretty big trans cooler from the yard the other day and put it inline when I was installing the 4x4x2 box. Still not done with the box but at least it is all plumbed up.

Chuzie,
I was reading this post on FSB. I looks like you can put the 4r70w gears into an AOD. This might be a cheaper and easier swap than the 4r100w swap you were considering.

You can do that but the AOD case also has flaws in terms of strength. The extra expense will be well worth it when I have a bullet proof electronic transmission that is completely tunable to my Bronco's needs. Thanks for the suggestion though. I did consider that route initially but my research has all but forced me to go the other route.

Add a few more to the COMPLETE list...

*** Radiator fan shroud *** COMPLETE ***
*** Seal firewall holes *** COMPLETE ***
*** Seal fresh air vents *** COMPLETE ***

I modified a shroud off a V6 Explorer and it fit very nicely on my Ron Davis radiator. The results are AMAZING. Before the shroud, I was running two 10" electric fans in front of the radiator with the Explorer clutch fan behind and no shroud. My temps on the interstate usually get to 205-210 at sustained 3000 RPM (60 MPH). Today I observed no higher than 185 degrees (180 degree thermostat) with the two 10" fans still installed but not running. The fans have since been removed to my junk box for future implementation. I am totally stoked about the temps! I cannot believe I did not do a shroud a LONG time ago. I always thought it was just going to be a HUGE pain in the butt; was pretty simple!

On another note, I am experiencing loss of power at upper RPM ranges of 3500-5000. it feels like fuel starvation but not sure yet. Time to investigate. I may have to spring for a fuel pressure gauge at some point. Looks like whatever sickness Chuck's Bronco had was contagious.
