My 70 Sport Project..."Nothin' Fancy"
#1
Aight....here's my junk! Bought this bronco while living in DC about 4 years ago. Ended up being a little rougher than I was expecting, but over the last six months or so I've been able to start replacing some sheet metal and getting it solid again. This is my first go with welding and metal repair so hopefully this will be a good learning experience. The ultimate goal is to have a dependable/safe rig to drive around town but still hit some mild trails and have a little fun. Function over form for the most part...not looking to make a shiny show queen, but hopefully getting rid of the majority of the rust and having a solid, clean rig.

Here it is the day I brought it home. Drove 20 miles through the backroads with a gummed up carb that wouldn't let me get above 35 mph floored. Pretty much bone stock, with a mildly rebuilt 302, 3 speed on the column, and an oldschool Kayline soft top.

I found a screamin' deal on a set of 33 x 10.50 bfg muds up in York, PA so they sat in the corner for a while until I figured out which lift kit I wanted. I had always loved the LUBR look, so these tires where exactly what I was looking for.

I finally decided upon the CAGE 3.5" lift. I'd heard good things about it, so I placed my order and it arrived about a week before I was set to get married and move out of the townhouse I was renting and into a new apartment with my wife. Needless to say, I had zero time in that last week to install a lift, so I tackled that job in my new parking space.

Lift and tires on, now it was setting like I wanted.

Did some trading and ended up with a half cab in so/so shape.

Moved to Charleston last May.

Finally had a garage to work in!

Picked up a welder sometime last fall, and inner fenders where the first to get tackled. Always good to learn how to weld on the straight flat stuff that nobody will see :hysterical:

After the inner fenders were on, I moved on to the passenger door post which was shot.

Ended up selling my doors and getting a set of used one piece inserts off of Mike at BroncoDesign.

Within the last couple weeks, I have got my floor pans in (still need to seam seal and tweak a few things) and have got the kick panels made up with some sheet metal from the local metal supplier as well as the drivers side rocker welded in.

hey, it worked like a charm... somebody chunked it at the dumpsters and i promptly retrieved it, used it for some extra support in addition to my little jack stands, then sold it on craigslist to a homebrew guy for like $50 :xyxthumbs:

got a call from my wife when i was at work one day while in the middle of installing the lift....apparently our apartment manager wasnt too thrilled to have a bronco on a keg in the parking garage Confusedcratchhe:
