Irmo73's Build
My current 302 is the stock engine but was rebuilt in '98 so I'm fairly certain it's already bored
I don't see that boring that block more is going to be a longterm solution
I'm leaning towards the 351 bored 40 over with an RV cam and BC headers/exhaust
Interesting dyno results with that BC 2 to 1 setup on their website

I have the BC shorty headers and the 2-in-1 muffler system. I love it, very simple to install. I did a write-up on it. As far as boring, me I would go as little as possible. If .020 over is good run with it, don't go farther than .040 over. My block is .030 over according to my dad, my uncle rebuilt it many moons ago. That may be why I have two plugs in the rear leaking coolant!!!!!! and leaking oil from the new intake!!!!!!

seems like alot of people go 40 over but im not sure what you lose if you go less than that
that BC headers/ exhaust system is pricey but looks really sweet
on the other hand, all the other brands seem pretty pricey too

There is a lil gain in HP and torque with BC's headers compared to other competitor's. I like the way the tubes are wider than others. I think BC's are 1 5/8" while others are 1 1/2". BC shortys will outlast ur bronco!

was thinking about looking around for a newer 351 with a roller cam just to get some ideas
Is there anyone around Columbia that might be worth checking out?

Can't really help with locating one, but I do think that a later 351W roller engine would be a great candidate! They should be readily available from any salvage yard. I'd have a reputable engine shop do the entire thing and you'd end up with a very stout motor!

I used to work at a machine shop back in the college days. There is a lot that goes into building a good motor. I'd never buy a 'remanufactured' unit from one of the big auto parts houses.

There a couple of big auto salvage yards in Cola area. There is a small one on the way to Prosperity on the left. A big one in northern Columbia too. Another one in Congaree by airport. Been a while since I've been to any of them. I'd call them and let them know what you are looking for.
