I do want to avoid the whole hunt camp thing as well. However, I do want to let them know what we are doing and get credit for being there. I can send Eli a PM on NC4x4 to let him know our plans, if you'd like. Let me know if that would be a good plan of action.

Let's wait to see the work plans first. If we get to Eli too fast, and tell him we want to head to Dutch John, they may decide it would be a good weekend to install the guardrail below the big hill climb.

Well that stinks. Nick, if you still want to go, let me know. I sent Eli a message just asking if they were going to plan a workday. This is his reply:
The Forest Service doesn't have any "official workdays" for this month or next month due to the heat. Usually we would have a workday anyway, we did last year because it was a mild summer. But this year with heat ranges up in the 100's I wanted to wait to see what the temps would be like. It has cooled down a little, but with the extreme humidity its still nasty outside (plus the chance of t-storms everyday).
My personal opinion with the heat and humidity (and t-storms everyday) its just not worth doing a workday. Not a lot of people show up, and by early afternoon its just muggy and nasty outside. You or anyone else that wants to sign in with Janet Becker at Arrowhead can show up and pickup trash etc and get the volunteer hours counted. If you have any more questions just let me know.
Thanks,
-Eli

I guess they finally got smart and realized it's hard to get unpaid help in the summer months.
Yes, I'm still up for a day on the trails if you'd still like to go.

I'm good. The only thing is that I'd like to watch the weather. Right now it looks ok. I'd think that if we got out by 8 or 9 am we could be done by 2 or so. Meet at the double parking lot or the outpost? What do you think?

FYI all- We're going to hold off, as there is a 50% chance of rain/thunder storms right now.
