ebay radiator(5.0 conversion) install...
#1
ok, been searching for a while and settled on THIS aluminum radiator. im replacing my stock rad for an alum with correct inlet/outlets. after talking with Rick(radiators4less) we are certain the mount locations and wide are just like stock. they are in Georgia so shipping should be a day or 2. once it gets here, ill begin the install.

The plan is to redo all my heater hoses and reroute them(removing the mustang hard lines on the intake), remove mojave heater and replace it with the new heater/evaporator for the soon to be AC.( hope to have heat and defrost 1st...AC later)

heres a pic

you are running the explorer serpentine right? the upper hose will probably be very close to the alt. i had to go the explorer serpentine route as the mustang stuff was never going to clear the hose. hope it works for you. the lower hose isn't an issue.

My upper hose rests on the top of the alternator but has a protective sleeve to prevent chafing.

the radiator came in the other day. when i started to install it, i found that because i modified my rad support(moved forward 1.5") the rad wouldnt fit right. so i had to either undo what i modified(which might still look like poop) or... do a complete front clip swap! tommy freeman let me take the front clip off the green tub(sitting at my house) so i could begin instantly.

here you can see why i decided to do a clip swap. the previous owner went crazy with a plasma cutter...leaving almost nothing usable.

here is where i began removing both front clips

i painted the new clip since my motor is still in(i wouldnt be able to paint it after installing it)
i also had to remove the F250 shock mounts(PO mounted them too low and wont install them until 1" body lift is installed). the front clip is done now, im just starting to route my wiring back. had to also swap out the factory brake booster and stock bracket(those only work with stock 76-77 front fenders) the new boost works without modding the fenders.

now i should be able to run my new alum rad and the fan shroud should be perfect for fan.

to be continued.

Wow! Just wow! What a TON of work you did. Good on you for going the extra mile to do it right. Personally, I would have just hacked the radiator support some more and accepted it looking like crap to avoid all that work.

Do you think you will get it all buttoned up today? Wish I could have been there to give you a hand. BTW- Now I'm not getting back until the afternoon of the 17th! Sad

i could easily have this done today. i just removed the battery, pulled wiring off the fenders, and moved the fuel lines and MC...basically anything laying or touching the inner fenders had to be moved so i could do the swap. i should go ahead and get my new fuel pumps and deal with that at this time also. today im gonna see about installing the new rad/shroud. i also bought some of that flashing you posted...got a 10' section for $4...ill cut to fit.
