my full width axle build 5/23/07->10/28/07

what a POS day...I cant for some reason- weld a straight nice line! I have to remove the front axle again, so I can do it right!I talked with John @ WCB's about hydro-asist. He's working up a price for tapping the box and replacing the bad pump and headaches I have with the pump. I scroed a nice ram from my buddy Shawn for the steering assist. I've been off for a couple of days, and cant get S*^@T to work right!............out!

Chill Chuck 8) , sip on a cool bevrage and then try again  .
When I swap full withs I reuse the track bar mounts on the axle. I measure where they were from the pass side raduis arm mount and then reweld them on the new axle in the same spot. As for the measurment for the lenth of the bar will depend on the hight of spring and how much drop you have on the frame. Keep in mind this will also center your axle so do this with the raduis arms loose and lubed well. Some times tighting the arms will twist and move the axle off center.
patience is a must, I put one in a ranger and screwed up the measuments  . The thing drove like a crab. Confusedhock:
Doing the dana 20 over is easy, and a good time to upgrade gears and the output shaft. I pan to upgrade mine this spring. Tired of wearing out the splines(hence why I travel with a spare).

The Chuck chilled, had a cold one...then was surprised by my buddy Shawn. He came over to make me get stuff done. We got the rear perches done, axle back in and the 3rd swapped with the new one(4.56/spool). Just gotta get those weld on brackets(disc) and rotors-then back will be done! The front is close, Shawn re welded the track bracket in place(beautiful), get the axle seals installed,4.56's, axle shafts, and everything knuckle out.

got the steering pump, cooler, and steering box out. They get shipped out tomorrow to WCB. They are sending out a ported box, high flow pump, and I already have the ram...8"er.

they are gonna tap the box for $170(kinda high-the other place is $125. swapping out the old pump for a high flow new one @ $140. And they are giving me the tabs for welding the ram on. I kinda wanted to go through them, I bought all this stuff from them the 1st time around.Chuck

the ram cost me $50 with hoses.

got the new build it-yourself TRO system from COR(complete offroad) very nice looking stuff. It came with the TRO shims or inserts. Not sure why I would need them...Does this mean I will have to ream the top hole even more for the inserts???? Any help guys?Chuck

I guess that is in case your knuckles are already reamed to the large 1 ton GM ball joints. You can drop in the bushings with out having to replace you knuckles.

Dont ream the holes larger than necisary. Aaron is right, that is more than likely meant to fit knucles that are larger. That is the one weak link with a TRO system is the reaming of the holes. It can weaken the knucle.
The smaller abount is better.
Be sure to correctly bleed the ps pump.
