Hunting leads in Charleston area?
#1
So since I am coming back in a few weeks I know I will want to get back in the groove of things Anyway, I would like to get some use out of my bow and do some deer hunting this fall so I am looking for anyone who has hunting club suggestions or someone who has land that is interested in my helping out with the management duties in turn for hunting privileges or something.

Thanks.

Too bad you are not in NC. I could probably find you somewhere to go. I use to hunt in SC some till out of state licenses and gas got too high. I'm a traditional bowhunter who will hunt anything I can with a bow. I make bows, arrows and flintknapp some. I mess up alot and there is where the name Errorhead, instead of Arrowhead came from. When you get back on this side of the country we will have to get together and tell stories.

Sounds great. Good to know the reasoning behind the name Smile

BTT- It is August and still looking for a hunting lead for the upcoming season. Things aren't looking too good at this point. Maybe next year?

Wish I could help but I'm in the same spot. Not as many private landowners anymore willing to let hunters on their land.

All the places we used to hunt are closed. The old family friends with lots of land are dying off and their land is being divided and sold.

Hey chuzie, I hunt every year out at Bear Island. Been huntin' there for the past 6 years now. The first 10 days in October are bow hunts, then after that they have a rifle hunt. But now you have to be drawn for the rifle hunts. And the deadline is Aug. 22 for your application to be in. Bear Island is a WMA and has 12,000 acres to hunt. And on the same road is Donnelley WMA. We hunt there too. Its alot of fun. Me and my brother-in-laws and our close friends go down there every year. We set up camp right down the road from the Bear Island Check Station. Stay there for the whole bow hunt, and then if we get drawn this year for the rifle, we'll be back the rest of Oct.
There ain't nothin better than hunting deer, drinking beer and sittin next to a fire while camping!!!
Check it out!
