Bronco Brothers.....
I'm considering cutting off most of the rocker panels for more clearance and adding some rectangular steel tubing tied to the frame for rock protection...(Similar to the truck on the cover of the most recent Bronco Driver #32), I saw a thread somewhere recently where a guy tack welded a +-1" steel pipe behind the sheet metal, (tucked up tight to the underside of the floor), and used it to "roll" the bottom edge of the sheet metal to get a "radiused - stock" look verses a streight cut.....can't find the thread again....it had great pictures/directions......Has anyone else seen the thread or done this? Any advice?
THANK YOU.....Hank

Check out my build thread. I used 2x4 rectangle tube .188 wall to make my rock sliders. When I cut my stock rockers, I left about 1/2 inch of sheet metal going down so that when I welded it to the steel it kept the factory finished look from top/side. I do not have it tied into the frame yet, but plan to when I get to the roll cage build on it. There was a 3/4" lip in the factory sheet metal molding so I added a 3/4 x 3/4 square stock on the other side to keep it level.

THANK YOU SC74 AND JOHNPAULGLOF......I found the site I was talking about....I think this is what I'm going to do.....What do you think?......
SC74.....nice work integrating the skis into the body.....I'm thinking I want to keep the ski's seperate from the body tied to the frame....pro's/con's?

Hank, I have nearf bars and skis that are welded to the frame, they pass threw the rocker. I can lift my truck with them, and I have dragged it on them many times. The only flaw is the body flex, it makes funny noises some time. THe next ones I plan to put on will securly mount the rocker to the skis, but I dont plan on much body flex this time around.

10-4 Broncomatt.....thank you for the pic.....looks great and like you say works well on the trail also....nice design.....I like the matching nurf/bumper tubing.....I think I'm going to go similar to Blazinchuck with the rocker removal/rectangular tube ski.....I'm thinking I can get an additional +-2" ground clearance and get a little more overall body protection.....
