i tried to get some better pictures....

E4OD transmission

BW1356 transfer case. you can see what's left of a paper gasket and that there's a seal around the input shaft.

I guess I don't understand where it is coming from.
Maybe that is what you need to know for sure.

Could the tailhousing be cracked and leaking? Seen that happen when a u-joint goes bad.

Or just the bolts come loose?

You could still get lucky, just any tranny is so tempermental after they have been hot.
Had a guy tell me once that you have 4-6 months to trade it after an E4OD reached 260 degrees just once.
I have seen just a few minutes of 240 degrees destroy 700R4's.

Heat is a funny thing, it warps things, allows them to start leaking and slipping and that is where the real damage is comes.

ogeechee thanks for the pics.. i see the seal... and traveler... im aware of the heat vrs trans battle..lol
gonna check the tranny fluid make sure its not burnt or smells burnt.
