Was it a brass, steel, or aluminum drain cock? Dissimilar metals always screw me over.

Well I will hit lowes or the auto parts store or industrial supply house here in town and pic one up tomorrow and see if I can get that resolved and move on to the carb then.

Well got the drain cock replaced and it is holding water.
Also made it out to a local salvage yard here that is only known by reputation as it is listed online but the phone number doesn't work, but he does have a decent older ford section that I found a alternator spacer to replace the one I dropped and couldn't find when I was taking the alternator off. Well it was the right ID for the bolt but was too long and because the bolt is a 7/16 instead of 3/8 don't have a big selection of spacers at the local hardware store. So I measured the space from the head to the alternator and took the one I picked up at the salvage yard to school with me today and put it on the lathe and cut it down to 1 3/8 long and it fits perfectly.
I am gonna go back out there the 1st or halloween and look for a 4barrel stock intake manifold or even after market one on either a 289, 302 or 351. Any ideas on what fords came with any of those engines with a stock 4barrel intake?

Are you certain that lost spacer is on the floor and not lurking somewhere in/around the motor waiting to screw something up?

Not a lot mostly research, I got a couple lines on a 4 barrel intake to use the carb I have. Also talked to both Holley and Edelbrock Tech support and they recomended me to Lokar for the parts I need to use the AOD trans with any of the carbs I have. Will be looking to tear into the Edelbrock carb I have this weekend and attempt to rebuild it since waitting on the Post Office to solve an insurance claim with the guy I bought the Holley carb from as the choke cap came broken. Once I get the carb rebuilt and get an intake here and installed. I will also order the alternator pig tail the end of the week if I don't find it at the 2 salvage yards I am going to check out Wednesday. After the carb is rebuilt and new intake and carb installed and alt reinstalled it will be just hooking the coil up to see if it will fire over.

Well a blessing in descuize happened tonight, as I was cutting material for the intake gaskets a piece fell into the side of the head. Well I decide to pull the heads to pull the piece out and also because when I pulled the original intake some antifreeze flushed down into the sides of the heads as there must of still been some in the top of the engine. Well when I pull the ps valve cover it looks like burnt oil, so I pull the exhaust manifold and pull the head only to find pieces of junk floating in the antifreeze. So it is time for an engine swap and worry about this one once the 68 is running and driving. I should have the engine ready to pull by tomorrow, although won't be able too till I get the trans out so gonna have to get my hands on a trans jack then pull the engine.
