Motor Swap Question??

Real Quick. I have a mechanic that tells me that a 1990 (5.8) will work in place of 1994 (5.0). And that the plenum from the (5.0) will work on the (5.8)? Does any body know if this is true?

ok, first Its hard to translate because part of your post didnt come threw. I can say for sure there is not much that is interchangable with the 5.0. The 5.7(351w) is not at all interchangable with a 302/5.0. If your looking to do a motor swap in a 90's ford truck, I would upgrade to the 351w, but since it is a non emsions carb I would go with an aftermarket carb/fuel injection to make it much simpler. Just my 2c.

Sorry I tried to get it to come through right but it wouldnt. Let me rephrase. I have a 1994 with a 5.0 , the mech. says that his 1990 5.8 will bolt up and run with all my 5.0 equipment. thanks.

None of the intake, injection system will interchange from the 5.8-5.0.
The 351w is a better motor for a truck, but if your going to do that I would go carb or aftermarket(propane?). Keep in mind the brackets for the alt,a/c, ps will aslo need to be changed.

True, but if by "equipment" he means drivetrain... He's right. Pull that 302 and put in a complete 351 and roll.

So really nothing from the 5.0 will fit on the 5.8. So how is he gunna bolt all my fuel injection and plenum on the 1990 5.8? And thank you for all the help.
