Trying to get my junk ready for re-assembly... I got a good pair of frame mounts from HighPressure and want to weld them on... but I don't necessarily trust the PO's location. They had converted to a 302 and before I cut off their crappy mounts and weld on HP's, I want to make sure that I have the right location. I'll take a measurement tomorrow (headed to shop to help out gumby), but wanted to see if any of you gurus know, or can easily measure, the proper location back from the end of the frame rail to the motor mounts. All else fails, I'll mock it up, but thought I might know someone who knows someone... :popc1:
'preciate it!
Thanks,
JayT

So, before I mock up the engine/trans/xfer... is 36" from the xfer case crossmember bolt holes to the bolt holes on the engine's frame mounts right for a 302?

I took a quick measurement. There is an oval slot on the top of the frame rail near the front cross member. The center line of the motor mount slot is 6" back from the rear of the slot in the frame.
From the center of the transmission mount hole to the center of the motor mount slot I have 34 5/8".
The 36" measurement sounds like the I6 length.

I think Bucketobolts is correct about the I6 lemgth.
I measured my I6 and the oval slot measurement is about 3.5"
The trans mount to motor mount is about 36.0"
Remember ... this is for the I6 engine.

JayT - I got 27-1/2" from the end of the frame rail (Driver side) to the center of the motor mount. The dr. and pass. are 1/4 to 1/2" offset from each other. If I remember correctly, the distance between the edge of the crossmember and outer lip of the motor mount was 7-3/4" (one side was 8" and the other was 7-3/4").
HTH if I'm not too late responding.

Thanks guys... I'll use all this info when I get back to the shop this weekend. As you can probably see in my build thread, I don't think the current locations are right. I'm glad I asked! Ya'll rock!
