Fabbing New Rear Shock Mount

Just fabbed some new rear shock mounts. Beefy 1/4" plate and thickwalled DOM. These will mount forward of the axle and over the frame for a longer shock. They won't hold muck inside of them like the stock mounts do. Many thanks to Lars Peterson for ideas and tips.

Yep, I made these to fit over the frame @ 2" taller than a stock mount. I'm planning a 1" body lift and will have to notch the seam at the rear fenderwell slightly for fit. I'll put them as far forward as I can to fit longer shocks. A 1/2" GR8 Bolt fits inside of the DOM and should be more than strong enough even though it's in single shear.

just a thought...if you move them too far forward would it still help on controlling the up/down of the axle? I run mine inboard and never had any bad problems... dont forget to come out tonight!!

You're right...there is a point where too far forward negates that benefits of the shock. I spent a lot of time looking for a solution, and I'll take any advice I can get. I'm running Caddie calipers in the rear and the stock mount location conflicts with the caliper. I looked at inboard and for travel there is no better solution but I don't want the body roll that accompanies it. After prepping the frame, I'm going to test fit these with a single shock to see the best angle vs travel I can get.
