Trailer question
#1
Ok I know in sc boat trailers don't have to have a tag I was wondering if it was the same for car trailers

Unless something has changed just wondering

To the best of my knowledge, you don't have to tag a trailer in SC. My car hauler is not tagged, but I have heard that if you cross into states that do require tags they can still ticket you regardless of where you are from. I think Bryan Bailey has had this happen to him before.

well im in GA and they require a tag but our car trailer doesnt have a register trailer tag but i am really close to SC (like less than 30 mins at the most) and i was just making sure that SC doesnt have a tag law so then i dont have to worry as much when i get to SC

NC is the one that I've heard can be a stickler.

Or unless you take it out of state.

It depends on the weight also in SC,
Trailers with empty weight in excess of 2500 lbs. - $20.00 fee

Trucks, Truck-Trailers and Road Tractors (All Property Carrying Vehicles)*

GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT FEE

0001-4000 $30.00

4001-5000 $40.00

5001-6000 $60.00

6001-7000 $70.00

7001-8000 $80.00

8001-9000 $90.00

9001-10000 $100.00

(Over 9000 GVW upon request)

So as long as the trailer empty weighs less than 2500lbs no tag is required.
