Hey guys, I have a new problem and I thought I'd post it here before I did any serious troubleshooting. I have a HEI distributor that has been installed for almost a year now with no issues. Lately, my motor has been missing a little and I can see the tachometer jump up every few seconds. When I really take off, I can really feel it surging/missing. Has anyone else run into this on a HEI distributor?

if your tach is acting up along with the engine you might wanna check your coil. because thats where it gets its information from. or if you have a bad ballast resistor.
If you can't fix it with a hammer and a welder then your gonna need a new one!

It's an HEI distributor. I opened it up last night and found a loose connector from the magnetic pickup to the module. It's running fine now but I am still keeping an eye on it.
Thanks for the advice,

I was thinking more of the manufacturer. If it is a Pro Comp, they had a lot of issues. Hopefully it was a loose connection. I have a Proform one in my crawler (came from Jeff's). So far so good. The first one I bought was an ebay special. No spark right out of the box....

It's a Performance Distributors distributor (DUI)
