OK before I dig into it, maybe someone will recognize these symptoms and have an idea for me. Lately, when I have my hubs locked and am going down the road in 2 wheel drive, I can hear a noise coming from underneath my Bronco. I assume it's from the transfer case. If I unlock the hubs it goes away so it's got to be something the front driveshaft is turning. The reason I have my hubs locked and running down the road in 2wd is that it's more convenient when going to the beach to just go ahead and lock the hubs before I leave. It has been doing it for a while but seems like it's getting worse.
Any ideas?

i would check the driveshaft and ujoints
reach under there and grab that driveshaft...try to wiggle it and see if there is a lot of slack. more than likely...you might have a cap failing at either end of the shaft.
how far are you driving with 2wd and hubs locked?

Probably drive about 10 miles each way. I'll get under there tonight.
