Looking for Troubleshooting Tips for a 79' Bronco Rear Window (Powered).
#1
All you Big Bronco guys out there have dealt with this problem at one time or another.

My Rear Window in a 79 Bronco is down and is powered. I have checked the fuses, inspected what I can see through the accessible portion of the tailgate, I can see (and hear) the switch "click" on and off when I turn the key, and yes, I did actually see it work.

It is in the DOWN position and is nearly impossible to access anything to check it out.

Is there an easy way to troubleshoot? Bypass? Manually move the glass without breaking it?

Any tips would be great. Thanx

Brian,

My experience hs been the dash swith is the weak link and in particular the ground. Steve93 has some good schematics on 4doorbroncos and super motors. Try this link to get you to a better link!

Good stuff here!! If it does nothing from either dash or key switch check ground at the dash and limit switch in the gate.......

Bronco Biff,

Thanx for the links. I will have to get my Gear-Head out and see what turns up. Question: I don't have a dash switch. My 79 has the "turn the key while you stand outside the darn thing lookin like an idiot" method. Inside I can see the switch, but the glass is down, so no bueno on gettin' after it.

Is there a way to "release" the window so that it can be moved in order to adjust/fix?

Thanx

This is the tailgate tech page from Steve83:

If you poke thru these there is mention of pushing in wiht your shouldger on the left side of the tailgate to further persuade the safety switch, removing the nuts on the bottoem of the glass to seperate from the regulator, or finding the motor conector at the bottom of the tailgat and jumping directly to the motor.
