Another Bronco Floor Replacement

Hey guys, I know this has been covered a thousand times so could someone do me the favor of pointing me in the direction of the best tech articles? Who has the best panels?

I use the JBG panels. I wrote something up on the process on this forum a year or so ago. It isn't a terrible job. I try to grind all the spot welds rather than drill them. Be careful not to cut through the crossmembers when cutting the old ones out

OK, I have a question. I need to replace my rocker panels also. I read somewhere I think that if you do to much at once your body will sag or something like that. Should I wait till i am done with the floors to mess with the rocker panels?

If you are just doing the outer rockers, you'll be fine. If you decide to mess with the inner rockers, then it becomes messy.

I used the floor pans from Wild Horses they use thicker gauge sheet metal and they fit good with only a little massaging to get 'em in right. Chuck did all the technical work, cutting out the old, fitting and welding in the new. I was on spot weld and general grinding duty.

I got a needle scaler the other day. Getting ready to strip all the rust, paint, coating off everything on the floor so I can see exactly how bad it is and decide what to replace. Looks like the rust ate into the kick panel pretty good too so it looks like I'll be replacing that and the rockers. I'm trying to decide if I should POR 15 everything when I finish. That stuff is expensive! Did you guys paint the under side that will face the ground? I would love to find someone that has a used MIG they want to sell cheap.

The inner rockers will probably need some help too. Welcome to the wonderful world of rust repair... It is going to be a pretty big job. I really prefer exopy primer over POR on new metal. You can use POR on rusty metal, but I try to remove all the rusty metal. You do want to paint all the new metal. You can use a weld able primer before install and then a good product once installed

If you think POR is pricey, you're going to cry when it comes to quality paint. :rubeyes:

Side question - I noticed that you have the Hurst floor shift conversion. I got the tunnel cover hump for that conversion as a Christmas gift this year. My plan was to weld it in as I'm redoing my floors so that it looks seamless when I line the tub. My concern there is that doing so will limit my access to the shifter later. Is that a problem? I'm also looking for a small body lift to correct some clearance issues before they become issues. Does that affect the shifter angle enough to change where it comes through the hump?
