Floating the idea of building a simple winch mountable bumper and then putting a winch on said bumper. I know Warn is likely the top of the Line, but are any of the cheaper ones worth the money? Does anyone have a used winch laying around they would like to sale? WooHooo got smoke fogging out'n my ears I have so many ideas that I want to get done in way to short of a time frame. LOL

ive got all the pieces cut and waiting to build two more bumpers like mine(from a guys design on classic)...not sure if you weld, but you could get the same design and have someone cut the pieces out for you and weld it up. i got on a mass buy yrs ago for milemarkers SEC8 winch...been a nice winch, not super fast but works great. at that time it was $270 i think...but normal pricing is around $400 for it. ppl hold out way to long for a "warn"...i would have no problem getting a HF winch and using it until i could upgrade later to a better winch. I know a few on here have those and they not too expensive. besides, if you did that..you could always put the HF on a trailer for other projects or towing.

Chuck what ga metal are you using to build those? I can weld and have access to a brake and shear. Also how are you attaching it to the frame. Is the bottom side open or is it plated kinda like a skid plate? And yes I can weld. I have a Forney stick welder my Uncle bought in 1940 just before Pearl Harbor. One of the last ones sold to a civlian until after the war. It is still a sweet welding unit weighs around 350 lbs I recently bought a sweet lil Lincoln 175 wire welder and it welds purty good also. Nhopman has a nice bumper on his rig. It looked nice when I saw it on the one workday I attended.

The center is one piece bent 1/4", everything else is 3/16". It's plated on the bottom all the way across. Plans called for most of the ends to be back plated...but I didn't do it. I used some radius C channel(looks just like a 2x4 but doesn't have one side. I'll look see if I have pics

If you are talking about the fella just north of Charleston then I've already spoken to him. I offered him $250 for dash and complete winshield. He said he was firm on $300 or $150 each. I may chk him out in another month when I regain some spending money. All I really need now is a complete windshield.
Sorry for the hijack Bronc.
