Well, I've been needing to work on a few winches lately. Mine the Warn M8000, got a new remote and 4 soleniods a few years back. It has started to act up with the plug for the remote.
the 2nd winch Warn XD9000i(belongs to bajaplayboy) he wants me to work on this in exchange for another just like it that need work too.
The WarnXD9000i: I couldn't find any Warn solenoids in stock today, so I replaced them with stock Ford Bronco soleniods(a fraction of the warns' cost)($10 each). I cleaned it all up(internally) and was able to get it to work. I have already removed mine(M8000) so I can mount this 9000 up and give it some good testing. If it all works out, Sean will have a good winch, and I can start working on another one that will be mine:biggthumpup: Monday, I will order a solenoid pack for my M8000 to make it right yet again. The Ford solenoids are not the best to use for winching...I hear they cant handle the heat from winching. But, they do work.
Also, I wont be selling any-so dont ask mokin:

Eventually I'll get around to re-building my Warn 8274, but I gotta have a rig to put it on first.

I rebuilt my 8274 and my ramsey9000. Never had a problem with the automotive solenoids. And if one goes out, they are cheap to replace and I can jump one in the field if necessary (hasn't been necessary yet).
Overhauling the 8274 was the best thing I ever did. Works a heck of a lot better now and I love it. (to winch other people out of course)
I plan on wiring the winch into the cab because those remote connections, especially the black plastic types, get old and brittle and eventually go bad. The 8274 will take the standard trailer hitch wiring port setup if you are interested it may fit on the other models too but never tried.

Warn M8000
Warn XD9000i
New solenoids installed
Here you can see the hood latch falls right behind the solenoid pack. Pulling the latch, and it hits the winch-not releasing the hood.
gotta modify the hood latch

Just get rid of the hood latch and install a set of hood pins.

oh now I remember:hysterical:
