Those are some great pics! Too bad Carl isn't in that batch, but I'm sure he and Matt will have some pics to post of the Bronco. Good to see that Lou is in those - I heard he got 1st.

If you weren't there you missed one hell of a show!. Johnski and I had a killer good time out there! All of you guys who didn't go missed out big time! The Uwrharrie rock race was awesome! My favorite DNF was the guy in a TJ who, somehow, in the middle of the race, managed to loose the key out the ignition. It just disappeared! He tried to crank it again with a pen knife!
Some of the damage was amusing, like this guy demonstrating that no matter how much skinny pedal you use, it doesn't matter when you have an open diff and no tire. Or this Suburban demonstrating the inerrant superiority of the 10 bolt rear alxe: And some of the carnage was EPIC. This guy launched off of one of those water bars too fast and landed HARD. Check out the ultra-short wheel base XJ. This guy also managed to knock down a big dead tree, plus break the crap out of nearly every drive line component, plus broke out his rear glass, plus ran over my high lift jack when I was trying to extract him. This guy caught some nice air... ...then climbed this well... ...and then knocked down this 5" around tree after a control arm snapped.:doh0715: Here are a few pics of Johnski's & my rig set up for optimum spectating. This is the absolute BEST way to watch the race; from the back of a Bronco with the soft top sides rolled up, a pillow and three sleeping bags set up like a throne and the cooler full of ice cold beverages within arms reach.:thumbup These are the unfortunate suckers who didn't have the foresight to drive a Bronco to the top of the mountain before the race. Speaking of Broncos, check out this NICE Bronco from Extreme Machines in Hickory, NC. It's set up with cut and turned TTB arms for Baja style desert racing, very sweet. He flopped it during prerunning and locked up the engine, but fortunately he was able to get it going again before race time. Another nice Bronco. Okay, here are some more race pics, in no particular order. Nice Toyota with a leaf SAS. These guys came down from Pensylvania to race and we ended up watching a lot of the other races with them. I didn't get a lot of pics of him because he was flat out hauling ass through Kodak Rock. Very impressive. I LOVE truggys, and this is a nice one. No Limit Offroad buggy, on 'mogs! This is a very impressive buggy. I heard the he busted something in the steering about 100 yards from the finish line, then tried to cross the finish line backwards, and then lost a spindle. Crazy. I didn't see it, but that's what I heard. Cro-magnon cage. And the award for ugliest trail rig goes to.... This was one of my favorite buggys.

uwharriecross video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gpzoKS1OpA The rig below got within 100 yards of the finish line. The tire/wheel/hub was still attached but lying face down in the mud when forward progress halted.
