Helicoil tap and tool
#1
I need to repair one of the pan bolt holes on my C4 (5/16-18). Thinking about going the Helicoil route but I have no intention of paying 30.00 to make a single thread repair.

I think I could probably make the installation tool out of an old flathead screwdriver with a slit cut in the blade. I really need to know if the taps that come with the kits are a special pitch thread or something standard that I would have in my collection of taps.

Thx.

what size is the original bolt hole? I might have the correct heli kit at work and you could get it with the jack. Also the heli's are a completely different tap size.
