I use 1.5"x .187 wall DOM tubing. I've landed the front on the tubes and not suffered a bend. 18 wheeler inner dual lug nuts fit inside the tube and just weld around the end. 3/4" heims thread right in and the lug nuts come in left and right thread pattern, which you will need to adjust it on the truck. I have a buddy that desert races a 5000lb station wagon with 29" of wheel travel and that's how he builds all of his steering links. If it stands up to that at 95 mph is should handle 2mph in a crawl. Hope this helps.

Got my BTF high steer arms in yesterday. They gave me 20% off for having to wait about a month for them. Now I gotta find some tube to make my steering!

SC74 since you're in Greenville you might try Specialty Steels off hwy 25 in Moonville 864-299-8771 I used them alot when I was running my machine shop full time. At that time they didn't have any minimum like the big companies, but could get anything I needed. Hope this helps.

Good to know - that's not far away at all. I've been using KC Steel Supply out of Anderson for the tube and Metal Express for other stock metal. Metal Express doesn't have a minimum, but they are HIGH! I'll give them a call - thank you!

I'm confusing myself thinking about this - does the RH thread go on the driver or passenger side (and vice versa for the LH), or does it even matter? I'm trying to figure out what heims I need to order.
Any suggestions on best place to buy heims? I've seen the pricing all over the board. Thanks!

it does not really matter Robert, as long as you have a RH and a LH on the same bar. It only means you will rotate it up for tow out and down for tow in. If you run it the other way...rotate down for tow out,up for tow in. Does that make sense? I think that's what you're asking...HTH,Chuck
That's is exactly what I was asking. I thought that was correct, but its one of those things the more I thought about it the more I doubted myself.

Any updates? Did you complete your steering setup? That might be my next upgrade.

fdezone Wrote:Any updates? Did you complete your steering setup? That might be my next upgrade. No updates here - some other stuff came up and haven't been able to do much on the bronco. I have been collecting parts for the Explorer serp. set-up but that's all for now. I borrowed a left and right 3/4" tap but can't find the right tube to thread. Travis gave me a number to a race shop in Hendersonville that he got his from but all they had was real thick 1" OD tube. I may just end up ordering some weld-in inserts. I have everything to do the explorer serp. except for the front timing cover and water pump. I'll be ordering those today from rockauto.com. I took a detour on my engine by switching to serp, so once I get it back together I'll jump back on the steering.
