Who is using Surplus Center for ram assist cylinder?
#1
Looking to replace my ram as it leaks even after complete seal replacement. I do not want to spend $200 so I came across model 9-7258-8 from Surplus Center.

Is anyone using this model?

Any concerns?

Here is the direct link. Thx

Running some numbers at 1,000 psi supply with different rods for push / pull.
5/8 rod = 1767 / 1460 psi = 307 diff
3/4 rod = 1767 / 1325 psi = 442 diff
1.00 rod = 1767 / 982 psi = 785 diff

Should I be concerned about psi difference in pull between the different rods or is it pretty much nominal?

I am running an unknown brand 1.5x8 with 5/8 rod.

I have a surplus center ram on the racer. Forget which one. I'm not in love with it for high speed back and forth turning. No issues with it turning in the rocks. I do think you get what you pay for.

The more I educate myself on the subject of hydraulic cylinders, the more I feel I may have an alignment issue damaging my rod seal.

When I get back to CHS, I am going to closely inspect the cylinder and my mounting job.
