Just saw your post- a little late to the game there... I have 2 thoughts for doing the shackle flip.
The first is out of theory- that is that when the spring is below the shackle, it will flex easier due to gravity wanting to push the spring up, versus wanting to go back to the center like on the stock configuration.
Next is that when the rear shackle is flipped, I will be able to weld a nice piece of tube to the top of it (what would usually be the bottom in stock form) and reinforce it to the roll bar. Not sure if that is needed, but I'm a fan of overbuilding sometimes.
I don't have much in the way of progress. I did get a lot of parts in though. Hopefully will be able to get back rolling on it this weekend. Been converting the 68 crawler to full width axles. They are under it now. Should be done with it by Thursday or Friday. Will post pics of that project up soon.
