Cradle for temporary engine storage
#1
So I mentioned in the wrenching thread that I was looking at pulling my engine off the frame so I could give everything a good clean and paint. I've got the hoist lined up for next week, but it occurs to me that I don't have a place to sit the engine down...

What I was initially thinking was some sort of pallet with a V channel that would support the block without crushing the oil pan. I think I've seen crate motors shipped this way? I could be imagining things. Ideally I'd like to keep the engine and transmission connected just for keeping things simple.

So, does anyone in the triangle area have anything I could borrow for a bit, or have any ideas about how I could whip something like this up? I see some metal ones on summit, but I don't see me re-using this anytime soon. I just need something to last a month or two until I put it back on the frame.

For reference, it's a 302 with an NP435.
