Well I went out to go start up the bronco and the cylinder wouldn't engage so I changed cylinders out and still get the same thing. You can feel that it doesn't engage. It does even let the Acc. setting work so you can't turn the radio on or roll the windows down. Just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen before. I assume something is broken inside the steering column but I have no clue what. I'm an IT geek trying to be a car geek.

I can't remember the technical term for them, but it's probably these little metal rods inside your steering column that the ignition cylinder engages. I bet it's not engaging them anymore.

It's the ignition switch actuator (or actuator rod)... Check the link below (sorry it's not a write-up here)... Even though it's on an older BB, it looks VERY similar to what I had to do on my 90.

Or "steering column lock actuator" for less than 9 bucks... at RockAuto...

it also could be the cam gear at the end of the lock cyl. that pushes the rod....or if that is okay it could the the ign. switch it self....Confusedupergrin: :rebel:

Guys thanks for the input. I think it is probably that little gear behind the ignition cylinder but I really will not know until I tear it apart hopefully next weekend. I will let you know. That write up will be a big help on top of all of this the battery is dead also. Sad Oh well. I was hoping to take her out soon since gas has gotten a little cheper.
