Such an EB rookie question...

Got my frame off (66), as you all know... Now, we're having a wrench-n-party in sept (thanks, ronnie), and I want to make sure that I'm not missing a KEY step... I know that I really should put the c4 in now (since I'm not going to run a body lift yet), but I will be running the 3spd (just cuz they're so fun and such a P.I.T.A. to drive) for a while.

So.... What do I really NEED to get done while the body is off? I'm thinkin brake & fuel lines, wiring harnesses, and some suspension work. I'm also planning on some axle/wheel seals and bearings, but that doesn't really matter if the body is off or not. What do I really need to get done while the body is off?

As embarrassing as it is, it seems like I'm forgetting something... So, I'm going to the GURUS.

dont sweat it...you can get everything with the body or without the body(that you mentioned). i think inboard rear shocks are easier without the body, also bcb gas tank is too...you'll be fine. its always fun having a wrench fest!

Sweet... Thanks, chuck. I'm also having trouble NOT getting the lift kit ordered, since I need some shocks & springs.. but we'll see. (insert bribing the wifey here)

I know it's a haul, but you're definitely invited to the party! come on up, and test them TONS before the harlan trip! Wink

While you have off I would look at cleaning the Frame. You could also make sure that you get all the dirt or rust out of the frame tube. Beside them two little nik picking things looks like you have everything cover.. Good luck..

I'm with Chuck - most everything can be done with the body on. We swapped a C4 into my wife's EB to replace the 3 spd with the body on and no body lift. Yea, those hard to get to bolts on the bellhousing are tougher when it's on but no problem.

Fuel lines and brake lines are good to get done first. I ran mine on top of the frame rail instead of the side and attached it with adel clamps.

I rewired my wife's with the body on - in fact I think the body needs to be on for this. You don't want to risk pinching a wire or something while putting the body on and a lot of your grounds go to the body also.

I would have your motor and as much of the drivetrain together as you can but remember that everything you put on it prior to is something else that you have to lift over when you put the tub on - not a big deal if you have a fancy hoist set-up but can get tricky when it's 3 or 4 guys lifting it up and on. t-case bolts are a good example - a PITA to do with the body on but a trick to lift up and over and line up in that small hole in the tunnel.
