Mystery Bronco, need your expertise to solve
#1
My recently purchased Ford Bronco is a mystery. VIN# makes it a 1985, the engine block e9ae and makes the block a 1989, the engine side of the fire wall is stamped 1987....please take a look and give me your opinion. I want to know if this is a 302, 351, or whatever. Also knowing the body year will help when fixing or upgrading things. I do know the fiberglass top is newer, was told a tree fell on the old one and that why it has a newer paint job.....so the new top would match.

Any information will be much appreciated!
Dave

I don't know the FSB all that well, but the headlights appear to be 87-88 or later. A 351w will be physically wider than a 302, but the valve covers and heads are similar. Does the VIN on the body or door post match the title? I'd guess that you have an 85 with a newer front clip and replacement 302. An 89 would be efi and serpentine. I think an 87 might be as well. Not sure on that. It doesn't appear that this truck was a later model.

The VIN does match, as a whole it is a 85 except for engine and front clip. I agree the front is an 87 or 88. Best I can determine is that the block is from an 89 (E9AE8015AA82D9)but with a 4bbl Edelbrock Carb....it is not EFI and it definitely is not serpentine, it has 3 separate belts. Thanks for confirming some of my thoughts on it.
