A few questions for you guys
#1
Started my next project last week. It's a 75 Ranger that is in pretty daggum good shape. Very little rust especially for having original paint. Truck had been mostly sitting for 8 years and engine was neglected quite a bit. After changing plugs, wires, oil, coolant added a little sea foam and she purrs like she should. I'm taking the 2" body lift tomorrow. My question is concerning tire size. It has stock 3.5 LS gears. Do you guys recommend no tire larger than 33's? I'm going with a 17" wheel. After an incredible amount of deliberation I'm cutting the front and rear. I just ordered the flares so no turning back now... I'd really like 35" tires but everything I've read says no. Thoughts?

Thats nice jonathan! Yiu can run 35s with just a 3.5 inch lift just dont expect to clear ditches withnout rubbing radius arms. It will be fine for driving. the stock gears will be fine too. dont expect a fast start but is great for hwy driving with 35s.

35 with a 3.5 lift and 2in body lift will fit just fine especially with cut fenders

That's a good looking truck for the start of your new project. I think the 3.5" SL and cut fenders will be tight with 35's without the 2" body lift. The stock 3.50 gears are going to be sluggish also. That old 302 might be hurting with that set up. Good luck with everything! Keep us posted with the progess, and you may as well start a build thread if you haven't already.

Saw that truck for sale. 35's will fit on a 3.5" lift if it is cut more than normal. 33's would be ideal. I had a truck with a C4, 3:50's, and 35's. RPM's were fine but was a bit sluggish off the line. Steering was a handful as the tires were pretty wide.

I guess I'm going to stick with 33's then. Anyone have 33" with that much lift and they could post a picture? I'm concerned the space between the flares and tires will make the tires look tiny.

Speaking of flares I ordered broncodesign flares. I've noticed some guys are no longer riveting the flares on but are using 8mm button head bolts and nuts. Anyone else used them? Where did you buy them?

Finally, what is your opinion on headers... Short, mid, long? What is most desired? I going a different direction with this bronco and want a low smooth growl exhaust rather than the loud head turning flowmaster that is on my crazy red one. Sound>Performance... Could anyone recommend a header/exhaust setup?

Mine is 3.5, with 1" body, and cut fenders...I prefer WH war flares, I run 33's. I will move up to 35's sometime

IMHO 33's look perfect with a 3.5" lift. 35's will look too big.

I can't tell you anything helpful about exhaust.

The new thing is to bolt the flares on. I've done it both ways. Bolting doesn't squeeze the flare as much as a rivet does, if you don't go crazy tightening them. Either way works. Be prepared to spend some coin on the stainless hardware, if you go that route. Be sure to use lock nuts if you do.

My old 76 had cut fenders, 3.5" SL and 2" BL with those skinny 33s and I had plenty of room leftover. I plan to do the same setup without the cut fenders.

I actually like the look of the brown bronco you bought. Throw some challenger rims (shame you sold your set months ago) on there and roll on!

Going to wait to cut fenders and take body lift off until after paint... the rear quarters are growing on me. New wheels today. Going to decide on tires after paint. [Image: reqejaqy.jpg]
