The budget build
#41
A quick progress report, I havent put much time into this. Finally all the welding is done. Floor patches are done, found more than I wanted to get into in the pass door and tailgait. All of the underside and inner pannels are rust treated and undercoated.
Pulled the engine apart to put a new cam in and found the preivous bad oil pump had wiped out the bearings. So its off at the machine shop and I'm dreading the bill.
Hope to have it in paint after the engine is back in, the color will be a custome. One part purple, one part honda blue, one 1/4 stealth lime green = dark midnight blue.

If you can't fix it with a hammer and a welder then your gonna need a new one!

So the project name for this truck has been "Budget Build" , "m thinking its more like budgets build. Pulled the cam out and found all the bearings wiped out. A previous bad oil pump had taken its toll. Pulled the block stripped it and sent it off to the machine shop. Got a call today that the crank was worn and groved so bad it need to be sent out and turned, one piston has a broken oil grove, and there were a few cylenders that the valves leaked. Atleast I wont have to worry about the engine after this!
Spent some time this weekend stripping the body. Its been painted 3 times total. Factory was a light blue, in the 80's a dark blue was sprayed inside and out. In the last 10 years it was sprayed a lighter blue, possibly sprayed with wagner sprayer considering how thick it was sprayed. It also got a right front fender (cheapo) and had some repair work done to the radiator support.

Got the call to pick up the engine today. Turned the crank, 10 over on rods, 20 over on mains. Valve job, soaked the block, new cam bearings, one new piston, blasted the other 7, remove one broken bolt. Thats a bill I dont want too pay:crying::crying:
I will start putting it back together next weekend once I get the bearings and rings for it. May even have it in primer by then.

Got to put most of the engine together over the weekend. Nothing like an all new motor! Got shorted on a rod bearing so it will be buttend up this week and will try and drop it in over the weekend.
Still working on the body too, may shoot some primer this week too.
