Spark Plug gaps for a 351 Windsor
#1
I removed my old sparkplugs from the block this past weekend while installing my new headers. I figured it would be good to install new ones. I forgot to ask the salesman what the gap should be for my size motor. Does anyone know what the gap should be? 0.040 may be?? Thanks for the suggestions and let the debate begin!

on a stock late model ignition its .044''. If you have a hotter coil it could be opened up more.
Stupid hurts when it catches up, and it WILL catch up!

Sparkchaser,

The motor is a 351 W form a 1972 Gran Torino. It has been bored .010 over with stock coil. Would a .044 gap be adequate?

a stock 71 cleveland was .040'' with points. I'd split the difference and go .042. Oh yeah old fords don't like expensive spark plugs.Don't spend much just stick with some autolites or something.

I got the Motorcrafts $2 each I think. What might be a good upgrade to a coil?
