ECORS Class A race rig build
firefighter2134 Wrote:its usually about 100. i bought my last one from carolina driveline outta spartanburg.

Do you just bring in a core and they give you a rebuilt one for $100, or do they rebuild your old one?

Its about 100 for shortening or lengthening and balancing. It was cheaper for me to buy a new one the correct length. But they told me if I needed it lengthened and rebalanced it would be 50 since I bought it from them
If you can't fix it with a hammer and a welder then your gonna need a new one!

Do you have a mis-alignment space on top and bottom of the heim connecting to your pitman arm? Your drag link connects to the bottom of the arm, right?

Crawdad Wrote:Charles, how much did it cost ya to have your drive shafts rebalanced/ re-done? I have several and I'm thinking of getting some as spares. Thx

probably right around $100. Could be a bit more if it needs a new CV ball. They do great work at Universal. They are right off of Graham St and 85. They would rebuild your existing shafts.

Robert, right now I only have 1 misalignment spacer below the heim on the pitman arm. The bolt I had laying around for it was too short to run one above and 1 below. Just got some new bolts from the bolt depot that will fix this. Also waiting on a new tie rod (this one that is under it is bent). Iron Man Fab is making it- should be here this week. Got some new heim ends from Barnes 4WD to compliment the new tie rod. They seem like really good people to work with up there.

Brad Barnes is a good guy... Keith and I went up the Hendersonville one weekend to help MillKnob and Brad was there to help too.

Got a few more things done. My right rear quarter was crinkled a bit. After this last run at URE, it confirmed that the trailing edge of the quarter opening was rubbing against the tire, and causing this. So, I made the opening bigger.

To do it, I used the 4-1/2" grinder with a cutting disc on it and some masking tape as a line to follow, just like what was done with cutting the front fenders.

Next project was to reinforce the motivator. The front bumper is pretty hammered and not in the best of shape. It is bolted/welded to the frame, but the shots from the trees at the last race didn't help it.

I cut some DOM tube and notched it to fit from the front hoop to the top of the 'stinger' portion of the front bumper. Now, I can use the front bumper to motivate any broken Heeps that might be in front of us Big Grin

NOW COMES THE FUN PART!! Everyone likes stickers, right? I found a guy on classic broncos that really helped me out! Got some vinyl cut for the numbers and my sponsors, Nick's Trix and Universal Service. Came out great!

I wanted to theme the numbers after the old Stroppe rigs. They even had a #56 back in the day. I didn't like the font of their numbers, so these are updated a bit, but still has the same kind of background.

Luv the vinyl numbers and lettering!! That baby shore nuff looks like a race rig now....I suggest you paint the top and roll cage "Stroppe" blue. IMHO that would add even more to its already "bad arse" attitude!! Confusedmokin:

This rig gets better every day! The vinyl looks great and adds a lot of character to the truck.
