ECORS Class A race rig build
After precision fitting the quarters into place with some wood blocks and a tape measure, I cut the bottoms of the quarters. I then marked and cut sections along the top 'rail' of the quarter for the roll cage hoop to fit through. The door striker posts were cut off. Next, I drilled a few holes and mounted them to the already existing tube support structure along the top section of the quarters to set them in place.

Because the wheel base was stretched 4", I moved the quarters toward the rear of the truck 1.5" to help offset the extended amount. This way the wheel openings won't be in the back of the quarter panels, a look that I think is ugly.

I marked the fender flare position with a sharpie and then put some tape along the quarters to use as a guide while cutting. I prefer a 4.5" angle grinder with thin cutting disc for this and all sheet metal cutting tasks. After that, I fit the flares into place and screwed them into position.

After that, I cut some 1" square stock to length for each side. I then cut 4 slices into it for a sort of 'redneck bender' style bending. Time ran out for the day by this point, but each will be contouredto the lip of the quarter panel, and then the slots welded solid. I plan to fasten the quarters along this edge, the top side, as well as a spot in the back. Now, all the body work on the truck is completely removable. I guess it is still a Bronco, right?

Here are a couple of pics with the new metal all in place, albeit loosely fit. Just gives an idea of what it will look like, minus finishing touches, body work, and paint. Anyone want to volunteer? I DESPISE body work...

Well, finally finished up a trans for it, packed with goodies. Full manual valve body, hardened input shaft, full roller bearings, billet servo, added clutches, and some other stuff. I've never modded a C-4 this much. Hopefully it all works out. All the 'bench' tests went fine but they don't guarantee that it actually works.

Main reason for doing it is that it was all in pieces on my work bench. Now with it assembled and moved,I can get some other stuff done!

This was a combination of things. I bought a drag racing C4 that already had the roller bearings and subsequent machine work done. However it was a car trans. I swapped some of the parts into a Bronco or truck pan fill type housing. The valve body was a trans brake style. I need to sell that. I went with a Broader Perf valve body and rebuild parts. Bad Shoe productions assisted me with the process. He goes over the basics of a rebuild in the video. This was a lot more involved than that. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Honestly a 'stock type' rebuild of a C4 isn't very hard at all. A few special tools need to be purchased or made, but it really isn't crazy like an engine is.

Bringing this back to the top. Had a few 'issues' to straighten out. Tore up one of the quarters already. Got a new one fitted and am now in the process of building a new rear bumper. 2" .120 wall DOM. Added a couple tabs for the license plate.

Had to make a new quarter panel brace to replace the damaged one as well.

Got to get her ready for the Nov run!
