The FRR E303 is a pretty mild cam that doesn't loose a lot of bottom end torque. The bumpity-bump idle is greatly affected by compression. The higher the compression the more "blow back" you get during valve overlap causing the exhaust note.
I believe if you spend enough time planning the right combination of pieces, you can get a nice sounding idle and great offroad power.
