Carburetor and intake manifold 1974-302-auto
#1
I have a Bronco that has been sitting for some time when purchased. I tried to rebuild the origional 2bbl, but it still seems off. Because money is tight I would like to try another rebuild before money is spend on the upgrade (4bbl). Would anyone in the Charlotte area who knows more than me like to help me successfully rebuild the carb? Thanks. Shep

i had a 86 mustang HO 4bbl intake with a holley truck avenger 670...worked great, however, JP's elebrock carb with off road kit seemed better

Keep in mind 1 good backfire through the carb can take out the power valve. Also, not all rebuild kits are created equal. When you have it apart, soak your jets, and everything else you can.

OR- This could be something as simple as a vacuum leak, crack in the manifold spacer, etc.

Yes I have been very VERY proud of my edelbrock w/ the offroad kit in it ... they make one already set up for off road conditions ... I did not buy that one and added the offroad kit ... I can't seem to think of the name ... but I would go with the offroad carb from edelbrock for sure

Edelbrock "Thunder" series Confusedmokin: ... google is my buddy :hysterical: ... hehehe
Waiting to build or BUY another legend! :thefinger:

Thanks for all of the great info. You all have been a big help. The carb is apart and soaking. I did not clean it well enough the first time, so I will see if this works. It seemed to be missing. I have changed the plugs, wires, points to HEI and cap/rotor. I will post an update hopefully soon. Thanks again. Shep
