X2 what Chuck said. The cooler has to be below the pump. Been there, done that. It will puke fluid out the filler neck like a geyser if you don't. Had the same problem when I converted to the Saginaw pump and installed a cooler.

Thx guys! My plan was to get up this morning and dive into the PS isues. But my dad brought me back a huge bottle of german beer from Maggie Valley. Well those three cups have kept me in bed the entire moirning. I'm not a beer drinker and darn proud of it, but I can't hurt my dad feelings. I got up and poured the rest out this morning, the smell is horrible! Dont know if this is a hangover, stomach bug or whatever. I feel like chit....
PS: the wine is my wife's I promise! leep:

Yesterday I relocated the PS cooler to the front crossmember. I had to replace one hose b/c it was not long enough. I hung the cooler before I installed it to the crossmember. Came back this morning and intalled cooler. I turned the wheels back and forth with front end off ground. I now know it takes 5 turns from side to side. I did it slow which got boring really quick. I've done this about three times this morning on seperate occations. The oil level is still the same. I will crank motor later on today and turn the wheels back and forth. I'll drop it and see if PS is back.

Went back and turned the wheels slow back and forth. Turned the engine on and turned the wheels back and forth till the motor got up to normal temp of 190. Check level and was still good. Dropped front end down and PS would not work. Backed up about 50 ft trying to turn tires and PS wasn't working. Checked oil level and was still good. Went forward and PS still no good. Parked bronco.
I guess I need to start thinking of another pump.

Saginaw!!!!!!!!!!! I had like three of them from the salvage yard before I moved. They got thrown away. They are easy to find at the salvage yard though.

I think I have a saginaw PS pump on the way. I bought it on Classic from a fella in ATL. Should have it by the next couple of weeks. I still need to find brackets for a 351W as well as may be a new pressure hose. Does anyone have spare brackets that will work for a 351W? They are pricey from the west coast vendors.

Hey Crawdad, I rent one from Advance, they bill you $40-50 bucks for it and then refund your money or credit your card when you bring it back. It's got all the stuff to pull it and then press it back on.
Good luck!!!

what he said, for renting a puller.
as far as your oem pulley, i don't think it will fit a saginaw. i usually get a saginaw pump from the junk yard with the pulley still on it. the saginaw pulley still has to be pulled off to remove the original pump mounting bracket, 9 times out of 10. it isn't hard, with air tools. you'll need the conversion bracket available from the bronco vendors, as well as the high pressure hose. the saginaw pump is much nicer. i don't usually run a ps cooler, but it probably wouldn't hurt, if you end up having room for it.
