5.0 backfires - problem solved!

Having a way to measure fuel pressure has been a key source of info for me, on working with my rig. You can have a permanent pressure gauge if you want it, it would be nice but is totally up to you. I don't have one set up permanent.

What ever happened with the KOER codes?

It hasn't thrown a check light since I figured out my stale fuel / lack of fuel problem several weeks ago before I swapped out the rear 4 link. It's got plenty of fresh fuel now and no light

Whatever is happening may not be enough to trigger a hard code in the computer which is when you see the check engine light. The only way to determine if something is going on with your electronics in a situation like this is to explore the KOER and CONTINUOUS tests when the problem occurs. Otherwise, you may be chasing a ghost.

Looking at adding one of these in-line on my supply line. I think I can add it right where I already have the fittings going from hose end to the Ford EFI fitting. It would be nice to find a shrader valve with a 1/8 npt thread so I wouldn't have to mount a permanent gauge here - lack of space mainly.

Here is a shrader valve with a 1/8 npt male thread fitting - just hate to spend more than the part on shipping and don't know where local would have anything like this unless the local TSC?

After looking under the hood while closed, there is not enough room to add that fitting in-line where I had hoped. Of course the easy place won't work and I may end up cutting the line further down to add this if I have to.

I did find the STI wire - it is in the same plastic block with the other wires that is impossible to open up!

Just grounded the STI and checked for codes via my check engine light. Here is what I got....

2-2-8-1-8-2-8-5-8-4-2-2-8-1-8-2-8-5-8-4

If I read correctly, this gives me codes:

22: MAP/BP sensor out of self test range

81: Air management 2 circuit failure (AM2/TAD) - this is for KOEO, but under CM it says MAP sensor vacuum was not greater than 2 in-Hg (7 kPa) during normal vehicle operation. The instructions on Ryans harness says Smog Pump Solenoid 2 inoperative - Soft Code

82: The only 82 code is for KOER and says Air management 1 circuit failure (AM1/TAB) The instructions on Ryans harness says Smog Pump Solenoid 1 inoperative - Soft Code

85: Canister Purge Solenoid circuit failure

84: EGR Vacuum Solenoid circuit failure

Can anyone else make sense of this foreign language to me? I am going to go do it again and get past these codes and see if it has any CM codes.

And the one CM code is 96: Fuel pump secondary circuit failure. The EEC did not sense battery voltage on the Fuel Pump Monitor circuit.

This makes no sense to me b/c my pumps have always cycled on with the key switch.

Just on what I have read I would be looking for a ground or power problem. All of those codes are realted to low or incorrect voltage.
I have a bunch of wiring diagrams if you need any, what year is the 5.o from?
