I would definetly rewire a winch into the cab. I did it on mine and soon after the external plug broke on the one it came with. Its realy much safer to have it hard wired than this cord running accross you hood. I see lots of winches come with wireless remotes know. But with my luck I would loose it. I too need to work on my winch solinoids, the in one has been hard to get going some times.

Great thread with some awesome tech info!! Chuzie - I like the trailer wiring harness idea. I may have some questions for you once I get into it, but that'll be way down the road.

Something similar to this is what I used and it fit perfectly. I found one with chrome at a trailer shop so it matched everything else. It ended up rusting because the chrome was cheap but nothing some paint can't fix.

I also spooled out about 50 ft of cable and winched it all back in....works Great!!! A little faster than the ole M8000 too!

Dang I thought the M8000 was about twice as fast as my Mile Marker 9K. And a lot quieter too. Maybe some day I will up grade and mount the MM on my trailer.
