Spring and leaf opinions?
#1
Hey ya'll, I got a question. I got my 73 back last December and I am starting to go through it a little bit at a time. It has double Rancho shocks all the way around with a 3 and a half inch lift. The front springs I assume is Rancho, and the back leafs are a 10 pack. It rides good but it sits low in the back. So I called James Duff and Wild Horses, they both asked me to take some measurements which I did. They both told me that the back leafs are sagging alot and needs to be replaced and one of my front coils is sagging some. Both of these companies are great folks, so my question is which if you were going to buy new coils and new leaf springs which ones would you go with, Duff or Wild Horses? Keep in mind I don't need the whole kit, my shocks, hoops, drop down trac bar, bushings all look good. This is not a serious off -roading bronco, mostly going camping, hunting and such. I have the top on and will have passengers in the back right much of the time. I have the aftermarket pro-fab back bumper with my spare on the back. I want to keep it at 3 and a half inchs (with 1 and a half inch body lift) and run 33's. I just know someone here has an opinion and I would like to hear it.
Thanks
Shannon

I have heard good things about both sides and cannot comment from personal experience since I do not own either of them but I would say duffs for word of mouth.

I had a set of Wild Horses front springs, still do, that collapsed on me. The upper coil windings were sitting on each other. Wild Horses had UPS at the house before I could pick up a wrench. They wanted them back. New set of springs was on the truck. Not sure who made those. I think the rears the Bronco houses sell are National Spring. They are very heavy so the only difference is distance and shipping charges. Get them from as close as you can. Didn't find that jewel until after I had mine shipped all the way across country.

When I first lifted my '72 I bought a set of WH 3.5" rock crawlers and a set of 3.5" add-a-leafs. This was by far the best ride for the street. But the rear did sag and I had a lean to the drivers side because of a weak leaf. I then bought a set of Cage rear leafs. That raised the rear a lot. I had to add a 1.5 spacer under my coil mounts to relevel the rig. Shock choice will also affect ride. If you run multiples make sure you by shock valved for multiple applications.

Bronco Driver's having a Meet & Greet May 16th at Duff's in Knoxville. Use that as an
excuse to go pick up your stuff and save the freight and get to see F100 Super Nationals!!!

I'm a big beleiver in BC Broncos Coils and Leafs. Chuck (at BC) can help you determine exactly how you want your rig to sit when it is fully loaded with people, winch, equipment etc. He also has a new leaf spring that is setup for the street but is still very flexy. His is made to his specs by Deaver. I've found his shipping is far below everybody else. I think he shipped my 3.5 leafs for $30. Everybody else wanted 75-100$.

The ordering part is not usually what I have trouble with. It is when UPS shows up at my door with a big package in my name that she starts asking questions. Smile
