flex plate for 302
#1
I will be putting a c4 in the rock racer bronco. The motor is stock and I need to know what flex plate to use. How many teeth. Also, what torque converter to use. I will be getting bucketabolts to rebuild the tranny so maybe he can chime in.

Don't forget, this a budget build.

the most important thing to know first is what year 302 ?????? because they have 28oz balance and 50oz balance. if its an older 302 it will be 28oz. and if its a small bell housing 157 tooth larger bell housing 164 tooth. yours is probably small if its from an eb.

Broncomania nailed it, that should be the orginal engine so it should be the 28oz, 157tooth wheel. I would get a new one, they are cheap and its not worth taking it out again if the teeth turn out to be too worn.
As for what converter that is much more complicated. It depends on the way you want it set up.
I like alot of compression braking. So I use a stock conveter(like 800rpm stall), it works well for the way I drive and wheel.
If you are going all out in the HP department you may want a higher stall. Just keep in mind the higher stall you go the more heat will be generated.
Defintelty any way you go put in at least one if not 2 tranny coolers. A fan for them is cheap insurance.
