ECORS Class A race rig build
Update on the tranny: I have the valve body cleaned and modified. I'll try to get a few pics as I assemble. It will remain automatic with the standard shift pattern, but will shift solid and like a freight train rear ended it. Should be great for racing and thrashing. I also found a replacement for the broken belleville spring in the forward clutch assembly.

what about the grab handles?
If you can't fix it with a hammer and a welder then your gonna need a new one!

A huge thanks to Crawdad and Snipes for going to it today. Figured it was time for an update. The cage is fully welded, seat brackets in, steering column pretty much good. Here are the PICS!!!

The column is 0.75" dia DOM with heims and a quick release steering wheel hub:

Clay welded up a bigger platform to the brake pedal

I cut out some metal and bent it up for the heim joint at the firewall

Door bars made and installed

They go through the door striker post metal. It was a good bit of work, but came out great!

I used masking tape to mark out where I wanted to cut the front fenders. A big thanks to Nicks Trix for them!!!

They were rotted pretty badly in the front corners and lower sections. Most of that is gone now. A 4-1/2" grinder with a .045" cutting wheel works great for this task.

Today we sanded the cage down and cleaned and prepped it for paint. Didn't get to painting it today.

We also fabbed up a front hoop for the engine bay. It comes through the door pillars and meets to the front hoop of the roll cage. Again, a lot of work, but it came out very nicely. The fenders, rad, and shocks will be supported by it.

Here we are mocking everything up. It looks pretty mean!!

Got it bent up and tacked into position:

Finished up the tranny today and was picked up. Here are the rest of the highlights of the build:

The oil return to the case was open up to 3/16" and aligned with the slot in the rear bearing. Then I drilled a 1/8" hole from this passage to the #9 thrust washer.

I modified the valve body to shift as quick and hard as I could without upgrading to a manual body.

First the cutback valve is disabled by reversing the position of the valve and spring. Then the transition and 2-3 backout valves are blocked with steel ball bearings. They required a little filing to allow the cover to fit flush. These keep line pressure up during part throttle and closed throttle conditions.

The spacer plate passages were drilled out to 3/16.

A deep sump filter was installed for the deep pan. Always be sure to reinstall the relief valve and spring under the filter in the order as shown.
