broncosbybart Wrote:Too funny. I didn't try to copy you on the battery location. (Read your thread a while back but that didn't sink in consciously). Maybe it was subconscious.... I did copy your radius arm design- I won't lie about that Big Grin

I actually like how you cut yours out better than mine. I made a lid for mine so water doesn't come in the passenger floor. In fact, I might end up copying yours and cutting mine out down.

Got a few updates. I really feel like things are dragging out right now. Still doing a lot of fab work.

Got the front hoop finished and the shock mounts done. Both front and rear axles will have limiting straps as well as poly bump stops to control suspension travel. The front fenders and grille will be bolted to the front hoop for easy removal. You can see some of the tabs in the pictures.

I am going to try something with the head lights. I cut the buckets out of the grille. I have some old KC style lights that I am thinking of mounting to the front hoop. The problem is that the KC lights are kind of small and look pretty stupid in there. Anyone have some big off road lights that they want to sell for 10 cents on the dollar??? Big Grin

Got my shifter locations all figured out. Here is what will be the mounting location for the transmission shifter, the adjustable brake proportioning valve, and the switch panel for all the electrical.

I also fabbed up the 'dash' bracket. It will essentially just house the gauges. All of this stuff is just made from 1/8" angle.

Now I am working on the rear tire carrier- it is going to have to be beef!!! While pre-running the course before the race last weekend, I looked back and saw the spare dragging behind us, carried by one hook of the ratchet strap. It was a rough course! We ended up not running the spare on the vehicle. Didn't want to risk it getting loose and hurting us! Here is the progress so far.

It is coming along, but a lot slower than I want it to. I put a list together last night. There are 2 pages of things left to do!!! One day at a time... Night all.

Been bad about taking pics lately. Here are some of the latest things going on with it:

The traction bar crossmember was drilled and tapped into the thin walled frame. I decided that wouldn't suffice. So, out came the plasma cutter, some DOM and the welder. I cut holes in the frame to bush it solid with some 1/2 ID DOM. Then I fit it all in there, and welded it all up and ground it all smooth again. Turned out great. The crossmember will not go anywhere now!!

Tacked in place:

All welded up:

The welds weren't too pretty, but I didn't care on those since they were getting ground smooth anyway. Just wanted to get it hot enough and not spend too much time on it.

Next project came out nice. I got a trans cooler with fan and wanted to get it all mocked up. Here is what I came up with. It is behind the pass. seat, but offset to the side some for air flow.
