My 76 LUBR Build in SC
Huh?!!! I chatted with him last night about his PS box (which he plans to sell as a compete kit) and he said he was gonna use the 77s rear end. Guess he may have changed his mind. Ill PM him.

I'm building a 77 EB down here and I'd like to have the matching axle if possible. I just got the front axle yesterday and the frame passed DMVs Eye Test so the ball is rolling.

Replacing my big bearing with the banjo big bearing from the 77. This 77 I bought knocked a huge chunk of parts off of my wanted list. It's going to be several weeks (maybe months) before I can get through it all.

Good luck with finding a rear 77 axle for cheap. 77 was the only year that had the fishmouth housing. A trac-lock is a limited slip. It doesn't do a whole lot in reality. If you are in a bind and need it, you're done. I'd go with an open diff without any reservation, if that is all you can end up finding.

Sucks you can't make it to the M&G. Hope it all goes well.

Thx Charles for the advice. No real big hurry, besides I still have a 72 rear end to use till I find one.
Did more boring purging today. Also bought a POS 99 Chevy truck for a grand. Doesn't leak oil but the ps is making some noise. Needs new shocks and tires need balancing. The perfect Lowes truck!

Put the PS box to the test yesterday. Did not notice much of any difference from the old box to the rebuilt one. I guess the Y steering for my 76 can only be the culprit left to point a finger at. May be an alignment is in order before investing in an expensive TRO.

Steering has always been an issue for me too. Sucks!

Is it still all over the road?

Not as bad as it used to be. Usually it is my box that loosens on the frame or the pitman arm nut coming loose. This time we found my upper track bar bushing is toast. My ball joints are good so once I replace this bushing I may actually have good steering for a change!

I've never had an alignment since my dad gave me it. The tow it good, but I know with the new drop track arm installed the tire is an inch to the passenger side more than the driver side. All the rubbers were replaced and the box was rebuilt. So the only things left is the stock 76 inverted Y steering or not ever having an alignment. Dan at RuffStuff is hooking me up with their "Y" Link Chevy one ton (http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/cata...NK.html)at a great discount, but hopefully I won't need it.

I have the Ruff Stuff Chevy 1 ton Steering sitting in my garage. It's been there for about a year now because it took a back seat to the engine swap. Lets see who gets their's installed first. My bets are on you seeing how I'll be TDY for the next few months. Let me know how it works for ya.
